Day Ten

Ghost Figures

What you need:
  • Enough chicken wire to create your decorations
  • Wire cutters
  • Files
  • Wire, for holding figures together
  • Glow-in-the-dark paint
  • PATIENCE (:

What you'll do:
  1. Get your chicken wire and decide on what shapes you're going to make.
  2. Make sure you have a large enough space to work.
  3. Cut chicken wire to size, and start to shape your figures. Use your wire cutters, file and joining wire now.
  4. Once you have your figures made, spray them with the glow-in-the-dark paint.
  5. Leave outside on Halloween Day and let the paint "charge" in the sun. Put them out in your front yard and watch your "ghosts" walk for Halloween.

For those of us who are lactose intolerant and don't like the taste of soy milk, like myself. I haven't tried this one yet but I intend to a.s.a.p.

Day Seven

A very neat way to deal with long scarves. This will keep those "tails" from hanging out the bottom of your coat. I'm going to do this for this winter.

How to Braid your own rug

What you need:

  • Lengths of fabric that will be easy for you to work with
  • Sewing needle and thread

What you do:

  1. Collect your fabric and sew start together to begin your rope.
  2. Start to braid your rug as you go decide if you want a round rug or an oval one and sew as desired, this will make it easier to work with.

Make your rug as big as you wish it to be. Place your rug(s) where ever you wish.
Don't forget to sew along the inside edges of the rope made. Try to keep it flat as your work progresses.

Day Two

I found this online and thought to myself: "Self that is one heluva good idea you must share this. It could save a lot of looking for containers to store stuff in the kitchen." My only tip to go with this picture is after you cut the tops off the bottles burn the edges carefully to keep the tops from cutting the bags. Another way to "soften" the edges is take an emery board to them and lightly file the edge. Hope this helps.

What you need:

  • Empty pop bottles
  • Snips, to cut tops off
  • Emery board for softening cut edges
  • Bags for storage
  • Anything you wish to store
What you do:

  1.  Cut the tops off the pop bottles.
  2.  Use your emery board to soften the edges.
  3.  Use these tops when you want to store things like beans (fresh or dried), put food stuff in bag, squeeze out the air if using fresh items, put the bag through the bottle neck and fold the sides down. Screw cap on and put your storage item away.

Day One

How to make a light out of bottle caps

 Recycling at its finest

What you need:
  • 215 bottle caps, the screw on type.
  • hot glue gun and glue
  • lamp with a click type on-off switch
What to do:
  1.  Arrange bottle caps in squares 6x6 caps per side.
  2.  Fill in the sides as in picture above.
  3.  Insert lamp on side that has only 35 caps.
  4.  Construct lamp sides as in the above picture.

Viola you now have a new lamp that you created all by yourself.

Found these online and just have to share with everyone.
